USOpen IS Happening

Can you guess my favorite Grand Slam of the year? Let me give you a few hints, it’s on hard court, I’m from New York City, it’s during my birthday which is late August, and my picture is on the indoor tennis courts. Did you figure out my favorite Grand Slam of the year yet? It is the US OPEN. US Open 2020 will be happening this year. Co-vid 19 or not. There are many restrictions on this tournament this year. However, the show will continue.

The US Open is during August 31- September 13, 2020. There were only two Grand Slams played this year. Many players have concerns because the virus is spreading in other states as well as, borders are still closed around the world. Gov. Andrew Cuomo is doing his best to allow the tournament to continue with special precautions to ensure the safety of the players. There will only be one additional person with players. The average tennis player has a tennis coach, fitness coach, and a psychologist. How do you think some players will do? Can this affect their results?

One of the craziest things I’ve ever heard is there may be no fans. Have you ever heard of a stadium court filled with empty seats? Well, it just might happen. What will we do? Imagine something as big as the super bowl empty. The sellers inside the stadiums would be put out of business as well. I hope they can earn during that expected time.

Either way, tv ratings will go sky-high. People are going to be tuning in with their popcorn and wings. It will be a different experience because it will be a super bowl at home. Ultimately, we all need to be safe and remain fit and ready to start back up whenever that is.
