Cocky Vs. Confident

Where do you draw the line with being cocky and just being confident?

Professionals always have a way of touching the brink of cockiness and confidence. Experts are usually thinking of becoming the best and nothing less. Mediocrity isn’t in them. Isn’t it funny how all-number 1’s think similarly no matter what profession they are?

Some would say there should be a balance between confidence and arrogance. Courage comes when you have worked hard for your skill. Determination is needed to perform in any situation. Having a heart is a good trait that gives you an edge to succeed. Arrogance is completely different. Ego usually comes from low self-esteem. Self-important people want to feel good about themselves. You have to see where you fit in.

Many professionals agree winning a grand slam is life-changing. However, there are a lot of pressures that come with being on top. For instance, once you win one, you have to win them all and be a record-setter. Everyone isn’t an MVP or going to be number 1 in the country. There is a place for everybody.

As Bianca has embarked on her winning streak, she made a statement saying,” I don't want to sound like cocky or anything, but I kind of forgot how it feels to lose." What does this mean to you? Have you heard any other professional speak in this manner?

So many professionals have said different things. The greatest idea about being an athlete is maintaining your individuality. One can speak freely and act accordingly. Some athletes have made bold statements and haven't recovered since. Do you think it’s tied to their mindset? Where do you draw the line? Does it make a difference if you make a bold declaration and achieve your goal or make a bold statement and slack off?
